About Liberty Hill Granite

Liberty Hill granite is an igneous rock that is quarried in the Northeast. It is predominantly medium to light grey/blue in color with accents of white and beige. Liberty Hill blocks vary in size from about 3’ x 4’ x 5’ to as large as 4’ x 4’ x 12’.

Once the large blocks are quarried, we bring them back to our mill for processing where we typically saw them into slabs. The slabs are then used for a variety of different applications including sawed bed veneer (a more modern cut of stone veneer), stair treads, paving, and wall cladding. We can also guillotine the stone into full bed veneer. In addition, at Connecticut Stone, we make polished countertops for exterior barbecues and kitchens.

Often times, landscapers, landscape designers/architects, and homeowners will come to look at natural slabs to find a piece that is naturally around the size they need for their project. They are then delivered, and a contractor or landscaper will install them into their permanent home.

Reasons to Use Liberty Hill Granite

There are many reasons that people choose Liberty Hill granite for their interior and exterior stone projects. For starters, it is extremely durable and requires very little maintenance (even when used outside in New England’s harsh winters). This granite requires practically no maintenance and is naturally stain-resistant as well. This means clients don’t have to worry about staining or discoloration taking away from the stone’s natural beauty over time.

Meanwhile, Liberty Hill granite is also very functional. Because it comes in both traditional cuts and our ThinStone™ veneer, you can use it in practically any indoor or outdoor application imaginable.

Applications for Liberty Hill Granite

Speaking of applications — how are some of our clients using Liberty Hill granite? We’ve seen it frequently used as a countertop choice in both interior and exterior kitchens; its neutral coloring makes it a great choice in a modern kitchen. We’ve also seen it used as cladding for buildings, square cut flagging for walkways, and patios or stair treads because of its unrivaled durability and ability to stand up to even the harshest of weather.

Fireplace surrounds are another application where Liberty Hill granite can really shine. For a more natural or rustic look, mosaic-cut granite is an excellent choice for a fireplace surround. Meanwhile, those looking to achieve a more contemporary or modern look may appreciate the appearance of ledge-cut or square-cut Liberty Hill granite.

Our lighter weight, extremely durable Liberty Hill ThinStone™ veneer is an excellent choice for exterior chimneys and other facades. No matter how you and your client decide to use Liberty Hill, it’s sure to be the star of the show.

The Bottom Line on Liberty Hill Granite

Its cool grey-blue tones and truly unique appearance make Liberty Hill granite an excellent choice for your next interior or exterior stone project. Whether you’re looking for a durable countertop option for a kitchen, a stunning stone for a fireplace surround, or even a functional veneer for a chimney, you can’t go wrong with Liberty Hill granite.
