Partner Spotlight: George Pusser With Cornerstone Contracting

We recently had the pleasure of sitting down to speak with George Pusser, owner and president of Cornerstone Contracting. This particular business specializes in the building of luxury custom homes, working directly with architects and designers to provide optimal craftsmanship at competitive prices. For more than 25 years, Cornerstone Contracting has been serving the local community and has grown to employ more than 40 professionals, ranging from construction and project managers to carpentry and labor specialists.

The bulk of their projects are completed across Connecticut, and according to Pusser, “most of Cornerstone’s projects are new homes with some renovation projects. We also have done some commercial work in NYC.”

About the Project
We recently had the opportunity to work directly with Cornerstone Contracting on a new home in Greenwich, CT. This home was to be situated on a seven-acre property, though the property actually consisted of two separate lots. The project was a massive undertaking, with the home itself totaling around 24,000 square feet, along with a 5,000 square-foot guest house with amenities. Ultimately, the project ended up taking more than three years to complete due to the sheer size of the home and the client’s vision to use not just the highest quality materials available, but the latest technologies as well. This included an innovative geothermal HVAC system that utilized 19 wells for heating and cooling.

Pusser explains, “the basement was my favorite part of the home, which included a full basketball court and a large exercise room with 14-foot ceilings. It also included an extensive wine cellar, grand theater room, and a spa & swim area that included a barrel ceiling with mosaic glass tiles!”

About the Home Construction Industry
During our interview, Pusser eagerly discussed the future of the home construction industry; he is optimistic that new products and technology will only continue to enhance the building process and the quality of life inside future homes. And in the 25 years that he has owned and operated Cornerstone Contracting (surviving the inherent ups and downs of the industry along the way), Pusser maintains that his favorite aspect of working in his profession is seeing his clients satisfied with their completed homes.

Partnership With Connecticut Stone
For this project and many other projects, Cornerstone Contracting has chosen to work with Connecticut Stone for their interior and exterior stone needs. Pusser explains that they choose to work with Connecticut Stone time and time again because “Connecticut Stone has the very best selection for our projects, and they’re a pleasure to do business with.”

For this particular product, Connecticut Stone was able to provide the exterior stone veneer for the massive home, which was sourced from China and delivered on-site by our experienced team. Connecticut Stone also facilitated the purchase of decorative limestone surrounds for the home’s mantels. These were actually sourced and manufactured at Texacon Cut Stone, a limestone fabrication facility in Bloomington, Indiana that is co-owned by Connecticut Stone’s President, Joe Dellacroce. These unique limestone mantels have created beautiful focal points throughout the home.

We’re extremely happy that we had the opportunity to work with Cornerstone on this project and look forward to continuing our partnership with them in the future. Please join us in congratulating Cornerstone on 25 years of quality craftsmanship!
