Human Resources and Safety Coordinator

We are seeking a full time Human Resources and Safety Coordinator.

This role will support our team in the functions of HR and Safety including recruitment, retention, administering benefits and leave, establishing safety programs and recordkeeping, and enforcing company policies and practices. A culture ambassador this role drives our employee engagement activities.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Human Resources

  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent needs particularly as it relates to, recruiting, retention, performance management and succession planning.
  • Provides support and guidance to management and supervisors when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise (includes providing reasonable accommodations, investigations and terminations).
  • Serves as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering policies and helping resolve work-related problems.
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, hiring and onboarding of qualified job applicants; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with local trade schools, colleges, universities and other employment agencies. Represents the organization at jobs fairs and other off-site events.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Maintains and updates employee handbook.
  • Accurately maintains employee records and documentation (such as job descriptions, organization chart) as required.
  • Develops and administers new hire training and onboarding, including safety training.
  • Drives the culture of the organization through planning events, programs, rewards and regularly publishing our company newsletter.
  • Reviews and participates in the selection of the benefits programs. Administers the program including open enrollment, new hire additions, and reconciling invoices.
  • Administers and processes FMLA, disability claims and any leaves of absence.
  • Supports the weekly processing of payroll by reviewing timecards and ensuring deductions and pay processes are accurately implemented.


  • Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
  • Plans, implements, and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.
  • Plans, implements, manages, and maintains comprehensive environmental safety and health programs on premises.
  • Collaborates with management to implement and develop our Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management. Partners with our Workers Compensation Insurance provider.
  • Maintains accurate records including a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence.

Knowledge / Skills and Abilities include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or advanced degree) in Human Resources Management; or 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with a high level of social perceptiveness.
  • Ability to manage multiple areas of responsibility simultaneously and ensure key deadlines are met.

  • Maintains highest standard of confidentiality.
  • Intermediate computer skills with a concentration in MS Office and Google Suite. Experience with HR Software (ADP Workforce Now preferred).
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is beneficial.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP or PHR Certified.
